Abstract: Abstract In a scenario where migration is shaping the nature of economic systems, high-skilled migrants have historically played a crucial role in both technological progress and economic development. The special issue on “the challenges and opportunities of high-skilled migrants” aims to offer original perspectives on key conceptual and empirical research questions related to this debate. This editorial briefly describes some selected areas of research in the study of high-skilled migration and introduce the papers in this special issue.
