Abstract:
Abstract Observation of the Amazonic potential of the pisciculture production chain in the Brazilian Amazon motivated the development of this research on the competitiveness. Pisciculture presents opportunities for growth in Brazil from increasing per capita consumption, increasing production and export, inverting the current commercial deficit, which raises three essential questions: “What should be changed?”, “What to change to?” and “How to bring about change?” We proved that the lack of an organised production chain results in low financial yields and retention of value generated in the Amazon region. Focusing on the Brazilian Amazon region, this study offers orientations for the development of public policy and for certification initiatives, with the construction of a replicable methodology of production chain analysis.
