Abstract: Abstract Ambidextrous leadership, which balances efficiency with innovation and stability with transformation, is vital for success in the current dynamic organizational landscape. Cognitive flexibility is a critical component of this leadership style and can be defined as the ability to adapt, consider multiple perspectives, and adjust strategies in response to changing conditions. This study addresses the less explored area of cognitive flexibility within ambidextrous leadership by proposing a conceptual framework that depicts the hierarchy and interlinks of the antecedents of cognitive flexibility. Based on the dependence and driving force, the antecedents are categorized into various clusters, using the results of the MICMAC analysis. The results indicate that emotional intelligence, optimism, and resilience are the leading factors for generating cognitive flexibility. The model is also empirically verified through a t test, using data from 41 respondents, collected using a structured questionnaire. Moreover, the study integrates concepts from the trait theory, self-determination theory, and social cognitive theory to offer insights into how organizations can foster cognitive flexibility in their leaders.
