Abstract: Abstract This article aims to provide a country-specific analysis of the legal and institutional challenges regarding water and marine pollution in Türkiye. Based on its examination, it identifies three primary categories of challenges: coverage, coherence and efficacy of the national framework. Under coverage, it focuses on legislative and policy measures; and their alignment with relevant international/ regional/ EU requirements. With respect to coherence, it questions whether the system functions coherently. Regarding efficacy, it scrutinizes different phases of implementation and enforcement. Finally, relying on its findings, it suggests a compliance-based approach with a good governance strategy to overcome these challenges.
