Abstract:
Abstract This article is a review of the book by Mitra and Okada on labor market participation in India. The study is analytical in nature and presents inter-country gender-specific indicators of labor force and workforce participation, while also delineating indicators for India. Lower participation among women vis-à-vis men is reported and is attributed to the variations in skill set by gender, lack of adequate demand and more jobs being located in the cities.
