Abstract: Abstract The widespread displacement of jobs due to technology has become a central concern in academic and public discussions. As automation accelerates across various occupations, researchers have predominantly focused on an occupation-based perspective, which often predicts negative effects on employment. However, this study proposes a departure from the traditional occupation-centric approach. Instead, it advocates for a task-based methodology to provide a more precise estimation of automation’s impact on manufacturing employment in India.
