International Competitiveness of Business Schools: Enablers in Indian Context

Abstract: Abstract The research aims to identify the measures of international competitiveness of business schools and suggest key enablers for leading Indian business schools. This study has adopted APP framework of competitiveness for identifying the measures. The findings of the study indicate that the strategic focus of Indian business schools is on career services and the career progress of students and alumni. Internationalization and research impact are two crucial criteria that Indian schools need to devote focussed efforts. The research produced by Indian schools is far less than top international schools, requiring a dedicated allocation of resources. Indian schools certainly require to work upon strategies to attract international students, faculty, and board members as the young generation wants to learn in an internationally diverse environment. Technology and innovation will be critical in times to come, and Indian schools must ensure that they walk parallel with top international schools in the latest technology adaptation and innovation. Although selected Indian schools have impactful societal and diversity practices but it requires a more focussed approach by many schools. The study contributes to the body of literature on management education by suggesting a framework that may help business schools to analyse and improve competitiveness.
