Abstract:
The main complications of chronic Viral B infection are briefly reviewed. The balance between the immune system of the host and viral replication, the histological definition of chronic hepatitis and the incidence of cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinome are delineated. Clinical manifestations of cirrhosis and the question of HBV infection in liver transplantation setting are briefly summarized. Copyright Birkhäuser Verlag 1998
