Abstract: Abstract Bulk cargo is one of the main transportation cargos in China, and a large amount of dust is produced during the loading, unloading and transportation of the port. The generated dust, especially coal dust, will cause air pollution and resource loss, it can have adverse effects on stevedores’ occupational health. Watering cart is usually used to dedusting at a bulk cargo wharf, but this method is not effective, such as untimely spraying and inadequate spraying. In order to effectively solve the problem of dust pollution at the bulk cargo wharf, a specially dust suppression device is designed for portal crane operation to reduce dust production during the loading and unloading of bulk cargo. The properties of the dust suppression system were comprehensively studied through fluid principle analysis, mechanical performance tests and field tests. The experimental results of this study indicate that portal-crane servo-spraying dust suppression can ensure a synchronous dynamic dust source that can work with dust suppression sprinklers, keeping coal dust pollution in a charged state to produce effective dust suppression. The results showed that portal-crane servo-spraying system can make the comprehensive emission value of air pollutants less than 1.0 mg/m3, and the dust suppression efficiency of the wharf front operation can reach over 90%, and the efficiency of the treatment of inhalable dust less than 10 μm reach over 96%, and the coal dust concentration emission at the operation site reach the standard. In summary, the dust suppression system prepared in this paper is suitable for bulk cargo wharf loading and unloading operations, which can achieve a good dust suppression effect and is beneficial to upgrade. The utilization efficiency of water resources has good promotion and application value.
