Abstract: Abstract Here in this paper, the performance analysis of the proposed 3-phase shunt active power filter (SAPF) has been presented by using Proportional Integral (PI) DC side controller-based active and reactive power (p-q) control strategy with bio-inspired Flower Pollination Algorithm (FPA) in DC side control approach. The main parameter needed to be controlled of the SAPF is the DC side voltage to acquire its best performance in harmonic mitigation and that gets managed by the DC side PI controller. The PI works well for linear systems, but for nonlinear systems, the optimized value of proportional constant (KP) and integral constant (KI) merely gives its performance best. The values of KP and KI can be found out but recently developed FPA has its advantages. The advantages of FPA are less complex, a high rate of convergence, and the potential to find global solutions. The dynamic state load current analysis, as well as steady state analysis, has been studied to explore the performance of the proposed FPA based SAPF. Along with this the conventional Ziegler-Nichols method and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) with p-q control approach have been evaluated to show a comparison with FPA.
