Abstract:
Abstract Cloud has emerged as an efficient way to provide on-demand computation services that are transparent to any user. Though cloud is a variant of distributed computing, it is highly dynamic and scalable platform. Thus, the basic problems like synchronisation, deadlock detection, snapshot computation and Termination detection (TD) become more challenging. In this exposition, we consider TD in cloud. Further, occurrence of failure is a frequent phenomenon in an autonomous system like cloud. Hence, fault-tolerant approaches are desirable. TD in general and fault-tolerant TD, in particular, ensures timely declaration of termination that leads to enhanced system throughput in terms of detection latency and response time. We propose a fault-tolerant method for TD in cloud environment to ensure successful termination along with optimal response time.
