Abstract:
Abstract The adoption of energy-efficient appliances by consumers remains sluggish, despite their recognized benefits, and there is a lack of comprehensive understanding of the contributing factors. This study intends to examine the determinants of consumer purchasing behavior for these appliances through technology adoption and planned behavior theories, along with additional variables discussed in the literature. This investigation was carried out in two stages. First, drivers are discovered through rigorous literature research, and then they are analysed using interpretative structural modelling. The study’s findings show that consumer understanding of eco-labels, government policy, and environmental concerns are all key drivers of the desire to use energy-efficient appliances. The study’s originality stems from the findings’ relevance to practitioners and decision-makers in policymaking domains to better assess the fundamental motivations that support sustainable energy consumption behaviours.
