Abstract: Abstract Subsea axial check valves are used in manifolds on chemical injection lines. This study discusses the problem of the ingress of particles and dirt inside such valves during hydrostatic tests of the manifold. Visual inspection with a borescope and leakage tests are performed on the internals of four axial valves. The inspection and test results show that the valves have no faults and function well. The leakage test and analysis are performed according to the requirements of API 6DSS and ISO 5208 as well as internal project requirements. Although the valves are not damaged in this case, two solutions—axial valves with flanges at both ends or with removable internals—are proposed to prevent the risk of valve failure during the hydrostatic test of the manifold. The first solution, namely, flanges at both ends of the valve, is recommended.
