Abstract: Abstract The inspiration of the current study is to deal with the performance analysis of sinter system which ensures the smooth functioning of the whole steel plant. The sinter system consists of six subsystems: Conveyor Belt, Crusher, Froth Floatation, Rotary Disc Filter, Balling Disc and Rolling Screen. These subsystems are configured as series arrangement. Subsystems “Conveyor Belt”, “Froth Floatation” and “Rotary Disc Filter” have a single unit. The subsystem “Crusher” contains three similar units and the subsystem “Balling Disc” consists of five similar units. The distribution of failure times and repair times are arbitrary distributions for all subsystems. For analysis purpose, the supplementary variable technique has been applied. Also, a comparative study has been done for the availability and profit of the sinter system by considering Rayleigh, Weibull, and exponential distributions for all random variables.
