Abstract:
Abstract Sustainable development is referred to be an approach to advancements and developments fulfilling the basic requirements and goals of the human society but at the same time sustaining the resources of natural system and the ecosystem for the requirements of the future generations together with their current restricted role to the economy and society. In order to maintain a balance among the needs of its three components to attain the Sustainability in the long run, there is a constant requirement of Sustainable Development in every sphere including in the planning the different indicators of different sustainability indices in the firms’ supporting policymakers and in the decision-making in the projects of the managements. The present study focusses on the reformulation of a Novel Mathematical Sustainable model as Multi-Objective Optimization Problem (MOOP) for the conflicting nature of the objectives for the implementation of Fuzzy Goal Programming Approach by providing user defined weightages or priorities by the different stakeholders of a firm or management to the Optimization of different objective functions as Environmental Sustainability Index, Social Sustainability Index and Economic Sustainability Index. The aim is to improve the aforesaid comprehensive Sustainability Index with introducing the data for the preferences of the different indicators or parameters of the different Sustainability Indices as Triangular Fuzzy Number (TFN) to ensure uncertainties in the real-life situations in a particular scale of measurement. The model is solved in two phases, initially by Fuzzy Programming Technique as to solve the MOOP taking linear fuzzy membership function to attain the maximum aspiration level using LINGO software. The second phase employs the solution again to solve the reformulated crisp as well as fuzzy weighted models introducing the implementation of Fuzzy Goal Programming Approach taking self -provided (crisp as well as fuzzy) weightages to the different objective functions by including some additional constraints and giving priorities to the required objectives of the Sustainable Development. The outcomes are then compared and discussed for the practical requirements. The novel approach is easy to compute as well as can be a profitable and valuable support for such decision-making problems. The work can be used for generating the Sustainability Reports of the firms and for planning in the decision-making in Management Projects by policymakers as well as decisionmakers in context with Sustainability.
