Abstract:
Abstract In this paper we derive the two dimensional model of elastic shallow shell using gamma convergence. We consider thin elastic shallow shells of “very small” thickness and we show that the sequence of functions minimizing the energy associated with the three-dimensional elastic shallow shells converges to the function which minimizes the energy associated with the two dimensional elastic shallow shell as the thickness of the shell goes to zero.
