Abstract: Abstract There is no known formula that counts the number of transitive relations on a set with n elements. In this paper, it is shown that no polynomial in n with integer coefficients can represent a formula for the number of transitive relations on a set with n elements. Several inequalities giving various useful recursions and lower bounds on the number of transitive relations on a set are also proved.
