Abstract:
Abstract On Infertile Ground uncovers the hyporpoliticized landscape of the global population agenda, and how it is connected with the climate crisis, through analysis of historical and archival texts, interviews, and the author’s experiential immersion and personal accounts. The theme of contemporary population politics, as presented in our age of climate change, is woven throughout the book with a strong emphasis on gender and women’s rights, as well as environmental and social justice. The proliferation of population-environment crisis is presented as hegemonic knowledge produced through international population policies supported by donors and funders, NGOs, and the scientific community.
