Abstract: Abstract The tremendous speed of technological progress has accelerated the diffusion of digital technological innovation among students. The advances in technology have motivated students’ orientation towards digital entrepreneurship and their intention to become potential entrepreneurs. This study aims at examining digital entrepreneurship characteristics, their impact on the perceived business opportunity, and whether students’ personality traits moderate the relationship between entrepreneurial characteristics and perceived business opportunity. This paper also examines the situation in greater depth to check the influence of gender on digital entrepreneurial characteristics, personality traits, and perceived business opportunities. To quantify the effects of the structural model, this paper incorporates a quantitative research methodology that uses a PLS-SEM approach. This study revealed that digital entrepreneurship characteristics such as optimism and realism strongly influence business opportunities, whereas pessimism harms entrepreneurial business opportunities. Optimism, pessimism, realism, and students’ personality traits significantly differ across the gender categories, whereas perceived business opportunities do not differ significantly.
