Abstract:
Abstract This study aims to systematically review the challenges faced by women entrepreneurship and their prospects. A bibliometric analysis using VOSviewer (version 1.6.20) on relevant literature from Scopus databases was complemented by a TCCM framework analysis, categorizing the theoretical, contextual, characteristic, and methodological dimensions of the research. Institutional theory emerges as the most widely applied framework in women’s entrepreneurship research, with studies primarily focused on prospects and challenges in Western nations like the US and the UK. Among the most influential contributors is Diaz Garcia and Maria Cristina from the University of Castilla-La Mancha in Spain. Despite the prevalence of quantitative research, qualitative studies lack longitudinal, ethnographic, and experimental approaches. The TCCM (Theory, Context, Characteristics, and Methodology) analysis reviews theories in the field, aiding in the development of models and advancing entrepreneurship. This study is one of the first to analyze the constraints and prospects of women entrepreneurship using a bibliometric and TCCM (Theory, Context, Characteristics, and Methodology) approach, mapping research, identifying gaps, and suggesting future directions.
