Abstract: Abstract A vast amount of empirical research has been published on business incubators. This study uses science mapping and other bibliometric analysis techniques to explore the knowledge base and attributes of highly cited articles on business incubators. A total of 100 most-cited articles were analyzed out of 1813 articles generated from the Scopus database search for 2002–2022. Bibliometric analysis, including keyword co-occurrence and coupling network, was conducted using the Vosview software. The analysis provides insights on the rise in the number of publications per year and their normalized citations, most researched sub-areas of business incubation, productive countries, and journals. The results based on keyword co-occurrence found four different clusters of research themes, while the bibliometric coupling network found five. The key concepts and journals mentioned in this study may be considered by academics who wish to research and publish on the subject. This study sheds light on the trends and patterns of business incubator research. The study presents a thematic strategy highlighting avenues for future business incubation research.
