Abstract: Abstract The rapid urbanization of China has brought about significant demographic changes, leading to challenges such as rural depopulation, socio-economic disparities, and imbalanced development. In response to these challenges, this research paper delves into the multi-faceted role of rural tourism in addressing these pressing issues. By conducting an in-depth analysis of Zhonghaoyu Village as a case study, we explore the impact of rural tourism on population growth, economic revitalization, and educational enhancement. The study reveals that rural tourism has a remarkable population-absorbing capacity, countering traditional migration trends from rural to urban areas. It fosters a diverse and expanding population, challenging the narrative of rural depopulation. Rural tourism’s impact on family planning policies and the educational landscape adds depth to our understanding of demographic consequences and the potential for enhanced human capital. This research emphasizes the critical role of infrastructure development in retaining populations in tourism villages. Creating a livable environment that attracts residents is essential, particularly in the context of reverse urbanization trends. Rural tourism villages can provide an attractive living space away from urban complexities, promoting sustainable growth. Theoretical implications of this study span economic theories, population dynamics, and urbanization models, enriching existing frameworks. Managerial implications guide policymakers and stakeholders in rural tourism development, emphasizing the importance of strategic planning, diversification, and sustainability practices. Ultimately, this research contributes to our understanding of rural–urban interactions, offering insights into the transformative potential of rural tourism in reshaping economic and demographic dynamics in China’s evolving landscape.
