Abstract:
Abstract BRICS countries have been observing a significant rise in both economic progress and environmental deterioration. The transition towards the green economy is one of the ways to promote economic growth while replenishing the environmental quality. Hence, BRICS countries have been trying to upsurge green growth (GG). Determining the influencing factors of GG is imperative to adopt effective policies for escalating GG. Therefore, we examine the relationship between education (EDU) and GG in BRICS countries. The findings from the novel augmented ARDL report that cointegration holds between EDU and GG in these countries. The findings from the novel wavelet quantile correlation (WQC) method document that EDU escalates GG in the long run, while it plunges GG in the short run. Based on these empirical results, we propose a matrix of policy recommendations.
