Abstract:
Abstract This comprehensive study delves into the intricate dynamics of urban liveliness, scrutinizing the interplay between spatial environments and human activities that shape city districts. Leveraging Baidu Heat Maps, POI data, and remote sensing information, the research meticulously quantifies spatial changes in vitality characteristics across various periods, utilizing the Macau Peninsula as a detailed case study. Employing a Geographic Detector model, the analysis provides a detailed examination of how different indicators impact the spatial vitality of districts. Key discoveries underscore a discernible disparity in the distribution of energy hubs at the district level, with notable differences between weekdays and weekends. Additionally, the study unveils a consistent pattern in the activity levels of districts during weekdays and gradual shifts during weekends. Importantly, spatial form emerges as the primary factor, demonstrating the highest explanatory ability for overall district vitality compared to other individual factors. Moreover, the research establishes that the combined effect of any two factors on district vitality surpasses the influence of individual factors when analyzed separately. This extensive investigation yields valuable insights into the comprehension of urban liveliness and its diverse determinants, aligning with knowledge-based economy principles by offering strategic insights for urban planning, fostering information exchange, and encouraging innovative approaches to enhance vitality and knowledge creation in urban environments.
