Abstract:
Abstract The research attention towards academic spin-offs has forged the present study. Even so, the topic of spin-off creation has been gaining attention, but a systematic review of the role of entrepreneurial orientation (EO) in its creation is missing. This article aims to explore scientific literature on the role of EO in academic spin-off (ASO) creation. A systematic literature review was carried out wherein articles indexed at Scopus and WOS were assessed based on a predefined inclusion criterion. The end in view is to perform a literature analysis of ASOs with the role of EO in the university milieu, seeking to make out current trends, identify literature gaps, and delineate an overarching research agenda. The findings lay bare three key themes in the EO-ASO nexus (i) perplexity and heterogeneity surrounding ASO, (ii) critical success factors, and (iii) contextual factors. So, this investigation builds up our discernment on the subject while suggesting future recommendations.
