Abstract:
Abstract In Ireland, migrant-led organisations play a crucial role in the integration of their members and communities. They provide the basis for group solidarity and act as important links between their members and mainstream society and establishments. Drawing on results from a recent study, this article examines how migrant organisations in Ireland are grappling with the strains of the current economic recession. It examines Irish economic climate and how it impacts on the needs and overall experiences of these organisations. The essay demonstrates how, despite critical challenges provoked by the recession, migrant-led organisations have remained resilient.
