Abstract: Abstract The media plays a key role in determining how the public understands contentious issues such as migration. This article aims to analyze the ways in which the media presents immigrants living in South Korea. To accomplish this goal, we examine stories about immigrants published by two major Korean newspapers. To analyze the media framing, we align five images: trouble and victim as negative frames, care as a neutral frame, and success and contribution as positive frames. Using the images, this study determines how the news media in Korea frames immigrant issues. The results of the analysis show that the Korean media most frequently presents immigrants with the care image because it covers mainly international marriage immigrants. Thus, the conclusion is that the immigrants in Korea are presented by the media in a neutral way.
