Abstract: Abstract The emigration of Marshallese to the USA has grown dramatically since 2000, with the largest numbers concentrating in Springdale, Arkansas. While the impetus for relocation is often driven by a desire for improved educational and employment opportunities, many arrive to find challenges that limit integration into their new community. This article summarizes findings from a series of structured interviews, background interviews, and surveys with Marshallese living in Springdale, Arkansas. The interviews and surveys sought to understand the primary reasons for emigrating from the Marshall Islands, and gain perspective on their lives and livelihoods since arrival. This article will identify key challenges and opportunities regarding the immigration and accommodation of the Marshallese into the Springdale community.
