Abstract:
Abstract A giant submarine volcanic explosion at the Hunga-Tonga-Hunga-Ha’apai isles on January 15, 2022, created massive tsunami waves in 28 countries across the Pacific Ocean with reports of a couple of deaths from the beaches of Peru. Different tide gauge stations registered them lasting between one minute and nearly one hour. The wave heights also varied with reference to location, topography, bathymetry and submarine morphologies close to the coast. We synthesize here the tsunami waves and wave heights detected around the globe to provide data for future research on tsunami and associated deposits.
