Abstract:
Abstract In this study, we analyze impacts of large natural disasters on county per capita income between 1990 and 2012 in the Contiguous United States. Using a difference-in-differences model with fixed effects and controlling for serial correlation, we find that the incidence of large disasters in a county significantly reduces its income as compared to its neighboring counties.
