Abstract: Abstract In this paper, we consider a manufacturing system comprising a failure-prone single and repairable machine that manufactures a one-product type. Under some circumstances, the global market demand cannot be met, which requires opting for outsourcing practices. In this context, an integrated feedback control approach built upon mathematical programming is introduced to simultaneously cope with the integrated in-house manufacturing/overhaul, and the appropriate subcontractors taking into account quality constraints. The proposed combined control strategy minimizes over a finite horizon the overall cost of the manufacturer, including manufacturing, outsourcing, inventory, backlog, repair and overhaul costs. To validate our developed model and resolution approach, we implement a dynamic exhaustive tree-based algorithm for small instances. To resolve medium and large instance, hybrid genetic procedure and heuristics are developed. We perform and discuss extensive numerical experiments to get some insights on the managerial implications of the developed integrated policy.
