Abstract: Abstract The objective of this study is to determine the role of media on environment to increase awareness in higher education students in Northern Cyprus. In the direction of this purpose, face-to-face interviews were carried out in order to evaluate the environmental sensitivity of Northern Cypriot media members and investigate the narcotization effect of media organizations on their own employees and higher education students. The universe of the research consists of the employees of several media organizations in Northern Cyprus (Detay Medya Grubu, Diyolog Gazetesi, Diyalog TV, Haberal Kıbrıslı, Havadis, Kıbrıs Gazetesi, Kıbrıs Postası, Kıbrıs TV, Sim TV, Yeni Düzen Gazetesi). Totally 50 individuals were included in the research, all of whom are employees in 10 media organizations having high circulation in Northern Cyprus. The interviews of media employees of research data were obtained by making visits to media organizations between 16 and 30 May of 2015 through interviews made with the employees. Different dimensions of the research were tried to be determined in accordance with the opinions of media employees in the research. The interview questions were prepared by taking into consideration the approach of the media to environmental problems and style of presenting it to the readers/spectators in the applied interview form during data collection. The data that were obtained from interview questions were analysed by content analysis. The purpose of this research is to investigate the anesthetic effect of media on its own employees. It has been provided assistance to the readers to better understand the commentaries pursuant to the results obtained from this research by supporting with literature.
