Abstract: Abstract Countries are aware that an elective second foreign language is necessary for them to communicate in economic, social and cultural areas rather than one another, since a single foreign language is not sufficient. The second foreign language gets the starting point from the first foreign language. Students who are learning a second foreign language receive support from the first foreign language, such as, the strategies they apply to the second foreign language. This study was aimed to contribute to the field of method and teaching of Russian, by researching the learning strategies of the NEU SOTHM students studying Russian as a second foreign language. Questions regarding which strategies they apply whilst learning Russian and if they make any connection to English, their first foreign language, whilst learning were used as research material. Data obtained by questionnaire were evaluated in the SPSS 15.0 package program.
