Abstract:
Abstract The objective of this study is to determine the influence of web portals utilization on management support and performance in universities, considering the information quality of these tools. To this end, a quantitative study was made, using Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) and a structured questionnaire, directed to teaching and non-teaching staff in Portuguese universities. The results obtained, from 338 valid responses, indicate a positive influence between the use of web portals, and that use of this tool influences university performance positively. The study emphasises the importance of quality of information in university information systems (ISs). Up-to-date and relevant information, serving university purposes completely, can potentially contribute to the decision support process and to university performance. Standing out as a contribution to practice is the importance of all university departments or services constructing ISs jointly. In this way, ISs that serve universities’ individual and collective needs can be achieved.
