Abstract:
Abstract The article presents an expert opinion on the development of transport infrastructure in Western Siberia, ensuring the expansion and strengthening of foreign economic relations with China and the countries of Central Asia. The article provides up-to-date data on the volume of freight transportation and the development of the infrastructure of the Novosibirsk transport and logistics hub, obtained on the basis of an analysis of the transport work of Novosibirsk oblast, which is carried out by The Union of Transport, Forwarder and Logistic Companies of Siberia (STELS) on behalf of the government of Novosibirsk oblast. The existing cargo transportation schemes are considered; this allowed the conclusion that the infrastructure of the Novosibirsk transport and logistics hub operates to meet the needs of the economy not only of Novosibirsk oblast, but also neighboring regions of Western Siberia, including Omsk, Tomsk, Kemerovo oblasts; Altai and, partly, Krasnoyarsk krais; and part of the adjacent regions of the Republic of Kazakhstan. It is shown that stable routes have been built in the directions Novosibirsk–Far Eastern ports of Russia, then China and the Asia-Pacific countries, Novosibirsk–Vladivostok–China, Novosibirsk–Zabaykalsk–China, and Novosibirsk–Kazakhstan–China. New logistics chains are being formed, including those with access to countries in the Global South: Novosibirsk–Central Asian countries–Iran–India. Further deepening of these transport links largely depends on the level of development of the transport and logistics infrastructure of the Novosibirsk hub.
