Abstract:
Abstract This paper proposes a simple and flexible mathematical method that allows users to jointly evaluate scholar-level citation counts and journal prestige, two of the most widely applied measures of scholarly output. The approach is demonstrated with a user-friendly functional form that can reflect, via different parameter values, a wide range of possible beliefs about the relative merits of citation counts and journal prestige, hence allowing it to meet an equally wide range of user-specific bibliometric needs or preferences.
