Abstract: Abstract This study investigates the potential relationship between scientific success and lifespan, with a particular focus on whether serving as President of the Royal Society is associated with a longer lifespan. Previous research has indicated that higher social status can confer health benefits, but it remains unclear whether holding leadership positions within esteemed academic organizations has a similar effect. To mitigate confounding factors, this study established a counterfactual by identifying Royal Society Fellows who are comparable to the Presidents. The analysis indicates that being elected as President of the Royal Society is indeed linked to a longevity advantage.
