Free-TV, Abo-TV, Pay per View-TV — Organisationsformen zur Vermarktung von Unterhaltung

Helmut Dietl and Egon Franck

Schmalenbach Journal of Business Research, 2000, vol. 52, issue 6, 592-603

Abstract: Summary Firms that want to make profits from selling television entertainment to large audiences are confronted with three major problems: quality uncertainty, entertainment resale, and competition from their own future. Free television, subscription television and pay-per-view provide different solutions to each of these problems. Combining all three contractual forms of selling television entertainment enables firms to increase profits through price-quality-discrimination.
