Abstract:
Summary The property-rights-theory provides an adequate methodology for analyzing the motivation of individuals to invest in the creation of knowledge and to subsequently exchange this knowledge with other individuals. The identification of motivation-increasing and -decreasing effects in a formal property-rights-model permits the determination of instruments which can be used to influence individuals in a targeted and selective way to create and spread their knowledge in the organization. Thereby an improved management of knowledge will be achieved.
