Abstract:
Summary Are there alternative competitive strategies for companies in the airfreight business? And if the answer ist ‘yes’ can they be considered efficient? The study tries to answer both questions by looking at practical actions from Cargolux S. A. and Lufthansa Cargo AG, two leading airfreight companies in the market. The practical actions are reconstructed by using the theoretical framework of prescriptive decision theory. The first result is that Cargolux S. A. and Lufthansa Cargo AG pursue indeed different competitive strategies. The second result is that both strategies can be considered efficient.
