Abstract:
Abstract The adoption of Lean Six Sigma 4.0 (LSS 4.0) signifies a strategic progression toward achieving operational excellence and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) via digital technologies and advanced tools. However, the implementation of LSS4.0 faces multifaceted barriers/challenges that can impede its successful integration within organizational structures. This study aims to analyze the challenges associated with implementation of Lean Six Sigma 4.0 (LSS4.0) approach in Indian small and medium scale manufacturing industry. This is the first kind of study which focused on exploration of LSS4.0 implementation challenges in small and medium scale manufacturing industry in Indian context. A comprehensive literature review and industrial expert’s input is used to identify the challenges of LSS4.0 adoption and ranked them via Grey Relational Analysis (GRA) as a multi criteria decision making approach. The result reveals that "Inadequate IT Infrastructure," is found at top ranked challenge for the execution of LSS 4.0 initiatives. It highlights the significance of a well-equipped IT structure for enabling the adoption and smooth functioning of LSS 4.0 practices. The findings from this study aim to assist organizations in effectively allocating resources and devising strategies to overcome these hurdles, facilitating a smoother and more efficient adoption of LSS 4.0 in the organizational landscape.
