Abstract: This paper is dedicated to methodological issues related to the construction of social indicators of well-being for sustainable territories. These new indicators could be used to improve the understanding of economic realities and also to assist public decision-making in order to redesign public policies. On the basis of an empirical study and in order to evaluate the diversity of life experiences and people’s well-being perceptions, three methods will be combined. The first method that will be used is a quantitative questionnaire survey, qualitative interviews will be used as a second method and the last method will be a participatory approach. The aim is to mix different forms of knowledge in order to create a new insight on this subject that could be useful for public policies. By exploring the limits of quantification and considering an alternative action theory, this paper seeks to develop a methodological and theoretical framework background needed for such a study.
