Abstract: Abstract The effect of working conditions on health and work-life balance has been established by researchers, however, the linkage between working conditions and society as a whole has not yet been studied. The current paper analyzes the relationship between working conditions and perceived quality of society, which is measured by the existence of trust in institutions and people and the absence of perceived tensions within society (as an indication of social cohesion). The relationship is explained using the canonical correlation method. This study indicates that there is very strong significant correlation between working condition quality and the quality of society. The paper also finds that job stability and job security are strongly linked with career opportunities, possibilities for influence and trust in public institutions. The association between trust in public institutions and possibilities for influence is also very strong. The results also show that “possibilities for influence and initiative” are preferred to income. “Trust in people” and “trust in public institutions” have a positive effect on working condition quality. It is obvious that overall working conditions play a significant role in the lives of people and affect the quality of society.
