Abstract: Abstract In this paper, the convergence among four main approaches (monetary, capability, social exclusion and participatory) of identifying the poor and estimating poverty has been calculated based on data collected from Kesla block of Hoshangabad district of Madhya Pradesh state in India. The results suggest that there are divergences among these methods indicting that one method cannot be substituted for others.
