Abstract: Abstract Legislation demands the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions from waste management. In order to assess and compare the carbon footprint of different residual municipal solid waste management systems, a model was developed covering the main treatment technologies and being adaptable to varying background systems. As a result, exemplary calculations are presented.
