Abstract: Abstract The importance of equal gain combining receiver is significant because of its better performance and lower complexity. The expression for the probability density function (PDF) of the output signal to noise ratio of dual branch EGC receiver is obtained from the envelope PDF. The expressions of outage probability and average symbol error rate for both coherent and non-coherent M-ary modulation schemes are derived using PDF based approach. The expressions obtained are numerically evaluated. These analytical results are validated with Monte Carlo simulation. Study have been done to evaluate the impact of fading parameters K and $$\Delta $$ Δ on the performance of Dual-EGC receiver.
