Product Moments of Downton’s Bivariate Exponential Distribution

Arjun Gupta and Saralees Nadarajah ()

Water Resources Management: An International Journal, Published for the European Water Resources Association (EWRA), 2008, vol. 22, issue 6, 679 pages

Abstract: Downton’s bivariate exponential distribution has been a popular model for hydrological sciences. However, it seems that no explicit expressions for its product moments are available. In this short note, we provide a direct derivation of a general expression for the product moments and also derive several particular forms. An application of the results is illustrated using drought data from the State of Nebraska. Copyright Springer Science+Business Media B.V. 2008
