Abstract: Zusammenfassung Das Urteil des Bundesverfassungsgerichts zur EZB-Politik vom 5. Mai 2020 wird der strategischen Problematik der Geldpolitik nicht gerecht. Insbesondere die künstliche Unterscheidung zwischen erlaubter „Geldpolitik“ und nicht erlaubter „Wirtschaftspolitik“ ist unangemessen. Die daraus resultierende Forderung nach einer Abwägungsprüfung stellt nicht nur die institutionellen Prinzipien der Geldpolitik in Deutschland auf den Kopf, sondern erweist sich, abgesehen von der Forderung nach mehr Transparenz, auch als engstirnig und kaum anwendbar.
