Abstract:
In 2015 the Nobel Prize in economic sciences was awarded to the British -American economist Angus Deaton. He was honoured “for his analysis of consumption, poverty, and welfare”. In fact, Angus Deaton is a scientist who has shaped the academic debate on the quantitative analysis of consumer behaviour over the past three to four decades in a decisive way. Moreover, his contributions to the measurement of living standards and poverty have been pathbreaking. This article reviews the main aspects of Angus Deaton’s scientific work.
