Abstract: Zusammenfassung Virtuelle Währungen wie Bitcoins geraten zunehmend in den Blickpunkt des öffentlichen Interesses. Sie funktionieren auf Basis der Blockchain- bzw. Distributed-Ledger-Technologie. Volker Brühl erläutert ihre Funktionsweise und zeigt auf, dass diese Technologien nicht nur den Finanzsektor revolutionieren können.
